Getting Involved
Feed Our Nation seeks to provide nourishment to those in need in the form of a staple, nutritious meal at least once a day. In association with the Starfish Greathearts Foundation, and together with you, our donors, we aim to reach out and feed the nation.
In leading privileged lives it is often hard to imagine that hunger is part of the daily lives of millions of South Africans. Help us create hope in the many communities that are largely characterised by unemployment, crime, disease and starvation. Let’s not turn a blind eye but make a meaningful difference. This is an opportunity to help those who are less fortunate, but no less important.
So how does it work?
Feed Our Nation has partnered with Zonke Foods, who supply Zonke Meals, a samp-based meal fortified with soya, kidney beans, split green peas, brown lentils and barley. Zonke has created a superior single source of daily energy and nutritional requirements. A 500g packet of Zonke all-in-one Meal will feed four adults or eight children, complete with the recommended daily allowance of protein. When you consider that 10 packets of Zonke, costing only R150 will provide a child with a daily meal for a month, it becomes infinitely more tangible for anyone and everyone to make an impact on the lives of the children Starfish supports.
By making your online or SMS purchase of a Zonke Meal via the Feed Our Nation food basket or SMS facility, your food purchase will be distributed to a community-based organisation (CBO), supported by Starfish. Thanks to the hard work of many individuals, the Starfish Greathearts Foundation has the privilege of being well-respected within the NGO sector for their meaningful engagement with communities and reputable project disbursements.
